Key Vehicle Inspection Points (Must-Read for Buying a Car)
1. Exterior & Frame
- Original factory paintwork is preferred; extensive repainting, bodywork, or cutting indicates a high likelihood of prior accidents, rollovers, or collisions.
- Boom, dipper stick, and arm: inspect welds, cracks, and signs of welding repairs-machines with cracked or repaired welds significantly lose value.
- Undercarriage: assess wear on tracks, idler wheels, track rollers, and drive sprockets; excessive clearance or elongated chains indicate high operating hours.
2. Engine (Heart)
- Cold start: One-button start with no difficulty starting, and no excessive blue, black, or white smoke.
- Blue smoke: Oil burning; black smoke: fuel injector or intake system malfunction; white smoke: water ingress or cylinder head gasket damage.
- Idle and acceleration: No abnormal noise or vibration; engine shows no oil seepage or leakage.
- Check the nameplate to verify the manufacturing year and machine serial number to avoid modified-year units.
3. Hydraulic System (Core of Excavator)
- All vehicle piping, distribution valves, and hydraulic pumps: No oil seepage or leakage is the basic requirement.
- Perform compound operations (simultaneous boom lifting + rotation + travel): Smooth, powerful, and non-stuttering movements indicate normal hydraulic performance.
- Check for pressure release: After stopping and turning off the engine, let the machine sit idle for 10 minutes. If the boom and bucket noticeably sink, it indicates aging seals or valve assemblies.
4. Rotation & Travel
- Rotation: Smooth turning with no jerking, unusual noises, or excessive clearance; braking is responsive and prevents slippage.
- Both sides should have consistent travel speed and power; uneven force or deviation on one side is usually caused by a faulty travel motor or central joint.
5. Time Sheet (Key Anti-Adjustment Sheet)
- Low price for a high year model, with an old appearance but extremely low mileage-highly likely to have been rolled back.
- Assess comprehensively by considering interior wear, foot pedals, handle grips, seats, and cab condition;
